So I have many interest and have a general knowledge based on those interest. Lets see, when I was eight or younger I used to play with some radio parts my brother had. He was a radio, telephone technician in the Army Air Air force, soon to be Air force as it was about 1947-8. So I was ready to explore that more and at the age of fifteen became a ham radio operator ( k2pdj). The thrill of talking to people all over the world with equipment that I built in my bedroom was great. I was always envious of people that could speak another language. Then I was amazed to realize, I could. I understand send and receive Morse code at 35 wpm, sort of a language per my interpretation.
I went into Nursing because it had become a tradition in my family. I had a brother and a sister who were RN's. Soon after graduation from Nursing school, I got a invitation from Uncle Sam to join the US Army in 1962. I decided on the Air force as a better alternative. So I spent the next eight years in the Air force with tours in Texas, Philippine Islands ( visited Thailand and Taiwan), and Ohio. I got out to go to Anesthesia School. A good decision for me.
So, I have been very lucky. RN school was basically free as it was supported by the State and Anesthesia school was free after a $25 admission fee. They even paid me a small stipend every week and the GI bill supplemented my income while I was in the 18 month course. I have never been without a job and never worried about being unemployed.
I read everything I can find on different aspects of science. Everything from Astronomy to zoology. I know just enough to be curious for more information. There is always more to learn and that keeps me stimulated.
A very early aspirations was to own a Encyclopedia Britannica. I could look up anything there. I thought it would be wonderful to be able to answer all my questions. I finally did obtain a set in 1973, but is was old news the day it was printed, or before. No one had conceived of a better system, except maybe a grand library.
Now we have the internet! What a revelation. Just need to be a little careful about how you evaluate the stuff there. I speak medical, electronics, know a little bit about most things. It is a curse to be curious, because you know for all you interest, you are never completely current and in some ways ignorant because science is always getting updated and old theories thrown out. Some people do not change or except new information and see it as a attack on them and their knowledge base. I know I always have more to learn and I share what I can with other curious people.
So I thought you might be interested in some of the website I have found to of interest. Here goes. www.debka.com ( Israel intelligence by Israel journalist with connections), http://www.drudgereport.com/ ( most actively accessed web site by the congress when in session), http://www.goldprice.org/ ( have you seen the price of gold go up in the past decade?), http://www.medpagetoday.com/ ( new studies on the latest in medical developments), www.aana.com ( everything you wanted to know about Nurse Anesthesia. A friend of mine has a lovely Daughter Singing in a contest and I suggest you listen to her and give her your vote. It is the Quebec version of American Idol. The language is French, but I think her talent shines through. Here is the website...http://www.staracademie.ca/candidatweb/index.php?method=candidat&id=1123717727001 Turn up the volume. To vote: near the picture on the right side of the screen, there is a caption saying" J'AIME". you click that, then you have to decipher a security code (write the same as you read) and punch : soumettre. If it goes, you should see the total number of votes going up by one... --
