Tidbits of information

I try to blog on Tuesday when the VDC puts out a News letter, but I have not seen one yet so here goes. I find this stuff absolutely fascinating.
There a lots of studies telling us that sunlight is good for you, despite entrenched thoughts by Dermatologist. One study says sunlight independent of vitamin D seems to decrease the risk of a Multiple Sclerosis attack. They don't know what it is yet, but it looks like a real thing. Of course, vitamin D is good for MS also and I am starting to see evidence that MS attacks are less with vitamin D also.
Here is another one. If you sit in the sun for twenty minutes your blood pressure drops for fifty minutes. They tested this buy using a sun lamp that did not have vitamin D rays in it. Here is the report.  http://www.vitamindcouncil.org/vitamin-d-news/uv-exposure-directly-lowers-blood-pressure/   It appears there are bodies in the skin that releases nitic oxide and that causes vaso dilatation of the blood vessels. Who would have thought it?
So it seems that the sun is good for you if you use it judiciously. Too much and you burn and that is not good. So it is like anything else, you have to use judgement and be responsible because a burn can set you up for skin cancer later in life.
One last thing, redheads and brunettes especially will tan instead of burn like they use to if the optimize there vitamin D levels. In fact anyone with a optimized vitamin D level will end of with a nicer tan than they have ever had before. I have a red headed brother. He says he use to burn and now just freckles and tans. One of many such reports I have heard.
So, hope you found this interesting. Enjoy the summer and the sun, just don't get pink or burn and also recall as you tan you absorb less of the vitamin D ray.
