A Synopsis of Anti Inflammatories

8/21/2016

First of all it was great to meet some of the people who read this blog last night. I realize this blog is not organized in a easy way to digest. This is my attempt to put it all in one place. If there is something you do not understand make a list of terms and look them up. I suggest Ixquick.com for a search engine which does not target you.
Initiating these anti inflammatories is life changing and require a certain amount of understanding. Your health provider is unlikely to be able to give you answers. They are untrained and usually uninformed. All this information comes from research on my part and my attempt to make it all come together in one place.
So what to do and what to take. Again look up here on this blog or else where anything you do not understand. You are in charge. Keep in mind that reducing inflammation reduces pain and ageing. This is quality of life stuff. Really!
Here goes. Take 10000 units of vitamin D daily. Check your level after 3 months for guidance to increase or decrease your dose. Always take magnesium to avoid problems. There is a increased need for magnesium when taking vitamin D. I prefer magnesium chloride, otherwise known as magnesium oil. Applied to the skin it is easily absorbed and helps with pain or cramp control in the area applied. Read.
Probiotics. Take probiotics with meals. They will change gut flora and you will feel better. I use sauerkraut that I make myself. Pills are available. Keep in mind there maybe a herxheirmer reaction. If this happens realize it is part of the healing process. Read.
Cut out added sugar products. Stop grains as much as you can. Whole grains are not much improved over drinking soda. Don't do that either. Recognize your decision to eat these things are influenced by the bad gut bacteria communicating with your brain to eat more sugar. by way of the vagus nerve. Read.
Realize that a human body contains as much as ten time the number of bacteria cells as human cells. We are in symbiosis with bacteria and in many ways act as a hotel for bacteria. Having friendly bacteria in our body reduces inflammation and tends to lift depressive tendencies. Read.
I am seeing more and more proof that Boron is one of those elements that is lacking in the soil where vegetables are grown year after year. Take six mg a day. Realize there maybe a herxheimer reaction to this also. This element reduces inflammation and yeast and fungus in our gut.
K2 is made in our gut as a reaction of probiotics to food. There is no way to measure this. It is important in that it tends to keep calcium out of our arteries. Picking a proper probiotic is important. Multi strain and supports k2 production are primary concerns. Read.
Also realize that I did not initiate all these things at once. This information has come to me over a period of decades. I suspect that initiating these changes may make it difficult to understand what is improving your life. I can assure you that all are contributing to a improved quality of life.
If this was me, just reading this for the first time, I would initiate the probiotics early and perhaps wait a month before I started the Boron. Or vice versa. Both of these can initiate herxheimer reactions.
Realize that this journey is to a improved quality of life and that you will see changes and the changes will be progressive over a period of months.
Almost all our serious disease are result of factory foods, poor diets, and additives that increase inflammation and all diseases. These changes improve immune function and reduce cancer and heart disease. We all get older and eventually die. My aim is to improve quality of life and longevity. As a adult you can choose to do so also, or not. It is up to you.
By the way, you will lose weight also.
BB
So left something out. What to take for pain. First realize that all non steroidal anti inflammatory meds carry risk. The risk is especially true if you use them everyday. They can cause heart attack and stroke. Just the facts.
So what to take in place of them that is safe? First is a product of Turmeric called curcumin. It is four percent of turmeric and is the anti inflammatory portion of the spice. The problem with curcumin is that the blood level stays up for just a short time and then it needs to be repeated. By adding bioprene ( a part of black pepper) to curcumin it will last several hours. Side effects essentially none. It does change bowel colour to bright yellow and may show up in urine. All good things because this spice is anti cancer. It has actually been shown to turn off polyps so they don't give you bowel cancer. Hard to believe but true. There is no need to worry of overdose. Very very safe in just about any dosage. Read.
Second...another good thing for pain control. A product called boswella serrata. Take up to 1500 mg a day. Never heard of it before? How about Frankensense. The same thing the kings brought to the new born Christby the three kings. it is derivative of that.
Lastly "Devils Claw" a root from Africa. The people of Namibia dig it up and dry the roots. They have taken it for hundreds of years for pain. I have taken these for years. Take these all in divided doses. Pain relief is such that you may need dosing three times a day.
Where do you get this. I suspect about any health food stores, but it is probably a lot cheaper on line. Need I say this. Read up on these things before you take them. Be knowledgeable. Make your own decisions.
Lastly, do I take Advil, Aleve or asprin. Yes I do, but only for break through pain when I do something excessive. I only take a single dose it get me over the hump, so to speak. The danger from them is almost non existent when used this way maybe once a week.
At age 76 this works for me and others.

Something New ( to me)!

If you have followed this blog you know I keep adding things that help. In this case it is ( new to me) Boron!
So what is the big deal? Well as we get older we get to suffer the rages of old age. At now almost 77 I consider my self to be qualified to comment on this.
The problem is how to stay active without pain and retain your strength at the same time. When these things get to be problematic we fall and perhaps break something. Life then changes in a very dramatic way because recuperation from that is slow to never. So I am trying to prevent this complication and that is what all these investigations of new things are about.
If you knew someone who was almost 88 struggle to walk, struggle to get out of a chair and suffer a great deal of pain and weakness in the process, it would distress you to watch. A relative of mine was doing this a couple of months ago.
I should add, at this point, that this 88 year old was taking adequate vitamin D, magnesium, and probiotics. She was also using for pain control tetrahydro curcumin and boswellia serata. All these things had been working well to keep her mobility and pain management. Then it no longer worked well.
Then she added a supplement and felt better in five days. In a month she was back to her baseline of managing her life without significant pain.
Now this supplement contained three things. Boswellia serata ( a tiny dose), DL-phenalalanine, and Boron equivalent to 6 mg of Boron. I looked up the DL-phenalalanine and Boron. I believe the significant factor was the boron. This is trace element that can be exhausted from soil that is constantly used to grow crops.
So what does it do. It helps with all these conditions and is a very good anti inflammatory....
Arthritis
Osteoporosis
 Aging
 Menopausal Symptoms
 Sex Hormones Allergies
 Parasites
Candida Albicans
 Lupus Erythematosis
Stuff for you to read.

Effects hormones in a positive manner! Yes, that also.

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=boron+dosage+&ia=web

In one tutorial, they claimed it took one month to work for those under sixty, those sixty two months and seventy three months. In my 89 year old sister less than a month.
I do not endorse any particular product. I buy boron by price and take six mg a day. The product that the 88 year old took will not be put on this blog because of the above. If you want to know the name, write me. It is pricy.
A last comment or two, all these supplements work together. No one will do everything and that is especially true as you age. The 88 year old saw improvement in five days and was really happy after almost a month. The literature says it can take up to three months for older people. Also I know of no bad effects as long as the dosage stays under 20 or less mg a day. I take six mg a day. Toxicity can occur at high dose....so don't do that.
It is cheap stuff. Let me know how it works out if you do try it out. A naturopath might know about this, other wise forget about asking your health provider. They just are not informed. Do your own research.

What about that Vagus Nerve

7/5/2016

It seems that vagus nerve ( the one mentioned in the last blog) has now had a pacemaker kind of electrical stimulator installed for pain by scientist. The pain went away!
This is the same vagus nerve that responds to probiotic bacteria by making you feel better and is even felt to be a treatment for depression. Conversely ( you recall from previous blogs) that bacteria fed with sugar and the breakdown of grains ( into sugar) caused more pain and a tendency to not be happy with the world. More stress and all that.
I don't know how long this article will stay available, so check it out. Again, I don't make this stuff up.

A Diet...Healthy...Easy and never go hungry!

6/28/2016

Sounds to easy to be true! It is true, but there are caveats. Food is a addiction just as much as any drug. Smoking cessation maybe easier than doing this diet. Details.
Do not eat anything with added sugar and no grains at all, including pasta. Eat all the fat you want and protein should be about 30 or 40 grams a day. That is a little over a ounce. Vegetables. Eat all you want. Fry them in any oil that is solid at room temperature or eat them raw. There are carbs in vegitables, but the limited amount is good for you. Baked it ok too. Good oils are coconut oil, lard, and palm oil. Olive oil is fine but don't cook with it as it breaks down with heat causing free radicals. That is the problem with other oils.
Fruit is good for you, but don't eat large amounts. You might wonder what could possibly be wrong with fruit. Well actually it is a good thing as long as one does not pig out on it. Fruit has as sweetener Fructose ( the same thing as corn Sugar). Fructose is broken down by going to the liver first ( and not the blood stream) where it is converted to FAT. To burn the calories of Fructose you have to burn FAT.
Glucose is better, but stay away from it on this diet. Glucose goes straight to the blood stream and raises the blood sugar....then the blood sugar drops, after a short time, and the insulin levels stay up. That causes inflammation! Just as a reminder inflammation causes ageing and makes pain worse.
So eat all you want but realize your resident gut flora will ask in no uncertain terms that they want sweets. Bad bacteria and good bacteria communicate with your brain via the vagus nerve in the gut. They vote.
I do not make this stuff up. You will be amazed how much weight you lose. Do not be surprised if you health practitioner does not know about this. There is no money or drugs involved, and after going on this diet you may need less drugs. As a aside, you will feel better in all ways. Keep this diet going for the rest of your life and your odds will vastly increase the chances of you living a long life.

Magnesium Blood Test....almost worthless

5/16/2016

If your blood test says it is low....it probably is, but if the test says normal it probably isn't. Then why do they do it. Frankly, I think they believe it is a good test. Don't believe me. Just google magnesium blood test is inaccurate. Or you can look here.
http://www.easy-immune-health.com/magnesium-level.html
Magnesium has so many things that are good for you. That you can check out yourself. One thing that it does is help keep your pulse electrically normal. A lot less irregular pulse and atrial fibrillation. And you really do sleep better when you have a normal level, which almost no one has.
Share this with your health provider. Good luck.

Here are some more good things magnesium does.
  • All electrical activity in the body
  • Smooth muscle contraction
  • Skeletal muscle contraction
  • Every single heart beat
  • All brain activity
  • Over 300 various enzymatic reactions
  • Regulation of a Normal Potassium Level

So why are you taking a Statin?

4/27/2016

The administration of Statins by our Medical community is a major mistake, imho. I think there are lots of studies showing that Saturated fats are good for you. Saturated fats are needed to make hormones. Kind of important and the side effects of Statins are very significant. Lots of people take statins and all of sudden start having aches and pains. Some get depressed and the Doctor puts them on drug for depression and tells them the aches and pains are old age! Interestingly these are side effects of Statins.
So what fats are good for you? Are you ready. Lard, palm oil and coconut oil. They do not breakdown with heat and become rancid. Hydrogenated oil is the worse. Not fit for human consumption, in my opinion.
So....go to www.mercola.com and put in Statin side effects. Then show it to your doctor. Don't expect your doctor to know about this information. Check out his statements about coconut oil to. He will try to sell you something. I am not endorsing any of his products.
Here is a nice study.

How does the medical community say we have been wrong all these years. I don't know. They have not done it yet!

Any one expecting a simple answer?

4/17/2016

Most people want a answer that is simple......What pill do I have to take to fix me and please pass the desert. It is not simple. Everything interacts with everything else. Health is directed by probiotics and supplements such as magnesium and vitamin D. I am sure many other factors are involved, but this seems to be really big factors.
We have existed as some sort of human being for millions of years. It is a very safe bet that during that time well over 99% of population has existed with gut parasites. A bad thing ....right? No so fast. Check this out.

Gut Bacteria Changes Cancer Research

3/15/2016

If you go back to my original blog you will find i focus on inflammation. Inflammation is just a fancy word for swelling and redness......and associated pain. I also said, if you reduce inflammation you reduce all pain and the ageing process. Read that last sentence again.
I have been saying this since 2004. I have implemented my own advice in my life. That I can travel and do the things I do at the ripe old age of 76 is testamentary to that implementation. So it is catching on. Doctors are starting to listen and the research dollars are going there too. They are looking for bacteria they can patent and sell, IMHO.
Well, I grow my own bacteria in sauerkraut and other fermented vegetables. No prescription needed. When away on trips I grown my own sauerkraut and take probiotic capsules. It works.
So here is something to read.....the Doc's are starting to focus....Make a comment or contact me at my e mail address [email protected] the subject line something I will notice. I get a lot of spam there.

Magnesium and Costa Rica

3/1/2016

I want to say hello to Donna, Bob, Sandy, Sharon and Tim. Great meeting you in Costa Rica. Please pass my regards along if you read this blog. My address is [email protected]   ( What a wonderful place to visit, especially in the winter). Make it clear who you are in the subject line. I get lots of spam.
Magnesium Chloride. I buy a pharmaceutical grade magnesium Chloride from Amazon. Just under 18 bucks for two pounds and will probably make a 100 bucks of magnesium oil compared to buying the oil directly on line. I make sure that heavy metals are removed from the the magnesium chloride. Heavy metals are not something you need to absorb. As a aside, the bath type of magnesium chloride has heavy metals and I do not recommend using them as a bath oil or magnesium oil spray.
How to use magnesium oil spray. I use a sprayer that is available from on line. It comes with a nice cobalt blue bottle. The nice thing is that each of the squirts with the sprayer is about 18 mg, so you know how much you are using. Spray at least three times a day. Spray problem areas five times and rub it in and sore muscles will disappear with in a half hour or be greatly diminished. If it did not do much it is because you are very low in magnesium. The next time it will work better and relief will last longer. I squirt my skin at least twenty times a day. But if I was to do sixty times a day it would not overdose me. Overdose is impossible except in the very rare instance of kidney failure or compromise. So if you are thinking you may need kidney dialysis in the future because your kidneys are failing, don't use this.
You may notice that the spray solution causes "tingling". If this is a problem dilute the magnesium oil with more distilled water. Don't use tap water. The oil may also feel uncomfortable on the skin. Tingling tends to deminish with use. After a half hour you can remove the magnesium oil with a wet wash cloth.
I also notice if I put the oil on my chest I get a slight rash, so I don't do that. The skin tends to me more tolerant on the legs, feet, back and abdomen. Don't for get, if you have sore muscles apply locally in larger amounts as above.
Lastly, if you don't sleep well dose up before going to bed. You will sleep better. Do it a half hour before bedtime and you can get about all the benefits even if you wash it off just before going to bed!
Just remember, every time you have a alcoholic drink, every time you have added sugar, every time you eat some thing with refined grains you lose magnesium. And when you eat vegetables that have been grown for decades in a commercial growing area there is little magnesium in the soil. It is not easy to get a normalized magnesium level and maintain it in our society.
Diseases of Civilization are everywhere in just about everyone.
